Thailand on Tuesday unilaterally terminated a 25-year-old agreement with Cambodia on joint offshore energy exploration, despite Cambodia’s calls to keep the pact in place. Cambodia’s foreign minister expressed regret over the cancellation.

The accord, known as MOU 44, was meant to let Thailand and Cambodia jointly explore oil and gas in overlapping Gulf of Thailand claims while separate maritime boundary talks continued.
