SpaceX Filing Names Texas Chip Project Terafab With Up to $119 Billion Investment
SpaceX has filed plans for a Texas semiconductor manufacturing facility called Terafab, an initial $55 billion project that could reach $119 billion over multiple phases. The project is described as using Intel's 14A process and bringing production of advanced GPUs and silicon in-house to support computing demand for AI, Tesla's self-driving systems and humanoid robots.
Earlier filings said the multi-phase development would be a vertically integrated semiconductor manufacturing and advanced-computing facility in Grimes County, Texas. County commissioners are scheduled to hold a June 3 public hearing on a property-tax abatement agreement tied to the proposed site near Gibbons Creek Reservoir.
