Bitcoin Hits $82,000, Reaching Three-Month High as Crypto Market Tops $2.8 Trillion
Bitcoin climbed above $82,000 on May 6 after reaching a three-month high of $81,956, according to LSEG, extending a rally across digital assets. Ether also rose above $2,400, roughly $50 million of short positions were liquidated in 30 minutes, and the total crypto market capitalization reached $2.8 trillion for the first time since January 2026.
The advance builds on gains from the previous day, when Bitcoin touched $81,000 and a 30-day high. Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $532.19 million of net inflows on May 4, led by BlackRock's IBIT at $335.46 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $184.57 million.
