Akamai Wins $1.8 Billion Cloud Infrastructure Commitment From Frontier Model Provider
Akamai Technologies said a leading frontier model provider has committed $1.8 billion over seven years for its Cloud Infrastructure Services, in a deal Chief Executive Officer Tom Leighton said validates the company’s position as a key infrastructure provider in the AI economy. Shares rose 23% in after-hours trading.
The company reported first-quarter revenue of $1.074 billion, up 6% from a year earlier, while GAAP net income per diluted share fell 13% to 71 cents and non-GAAP earnings per share declined 5% to $1.61. Akamai said Cloud Infrastructure Services revenue increased 40% year over year and security revenue grew 11%.
