Samsung Foundry 4nm Yield Tops 80% as Orders Rise
Samsung Electronics’ foundry business has lifted yields on its 4-nanometer manufacturing process above 80%, according to industry sources cited in a report, a threshold indicating the node has reached a stable, mature stage. The improvement, after mass production began in 2021, is helping attract more orders and could bring forward the division’s return to profitability.
Customers cited for Samsung’s 4nm process include Groq, IBM, Ambarella, Baidu, Faraday, Rebellions and FuriosaAI. The report added that Samsung is also exclusively producing the base die for sixth-generation HBM4 memory, supporting expectations that its non-memory businesses, including Foundry and System LSI, could stage an earnings turnaround as early as the second half.
