Rivian Raises Georgia Plant Capacity 50% as Quarterly Revenue Climbs
Rivian reported first-quarter revenue of $1.38 billion, up 11% from a year earlier, and a loss of 33 cents a share as the electric-vehicle maker moves toward the broader launch of its R2 sport utility vehicle. The company said it has started production of saleable R2 vehicles, made first deliveries to employees and expects external customer deliveries in the coming weeks.
The company also said it is increasing initial production capacity at its Georgia plant by 50% to 300,000 vehicles annually. Rivian expects the first advance on a Department of Energy loan of up to $4.5 billion in early 2027, and it reaffirmed full-year guidance for 62,000 to 67,000 vehicle deliveries and an adjusted EBITDA loss of $1.8 billion to $2.1 billion.
