Michigan Diesel Hits Record $6 as Great Lakes Prices Surge
Michigan's average diesel price reached $6 a gallon Sunday for the first time on record, according to GasBuddy's live data, after rising 90 cents over the previous five days. Illinois also set a record at $5.928 a gallon, while Alberta hit an all-time high of 207.1 Canadian cents a liter.
The sharpest diesel increases were concentrated in inland markets, including Great Lakes states, rather than on the coasts, GasBuddy said. Nationally, gasoline averaged $4.447 a gallon, up 40 cents from a week earlier, while diesel averaged $5.62 a gallon, about 20 cents below its all-time high.
