Fire on USS Zumwalt Injures 3 Sailors at Mississippi Shipyard
A fire aboard the US Navy’s guided-missile destroyer USS Zumwalt injured three sailors at HII Ingalls’ shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where the vessel is undergoing upgrades. The blaze broke out around 9:45 p.m. local time, with two sailors treated at the scene and one transported to a hospital.
The crew extinguished the fire, and all three injured sailors were reported stable. The Zumwalt is at the yard to be fitted with equipment needed to launch hypersonic missiles, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
