US Extends 30-Day Iran Russia Oil Relief Amid Shortages
The US is extending sanctions relief on Iranian and Russian oil exports for 30 days after requests from roughly 10 countries facing shortages linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.
Bessent also rejected criticism that the waiver could deliver Iran $14 billion, calling that estimate “a myth.” He said the temporary measure was intended to allow some Iranian oil already at sea to reach markets.
