Fed Nominee Kevin Warsh Vows Strict Independence on Rates
Federal Reserve chair nominee Kevin Warsh said in prepared remarks to lawmakers that monetary policy must remain “strictly independent,” pledging to protect the central bank’s interest-rate decisions from politics if he is confirmed.
Warsh also said the Fed must “stay in its lane.” He said he would work with the administration and Congress on non-rate-related Federal Reserve responsibilities while pushing for a reform-oriented central bank that better serves the public.
