Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Raises Power Consumption Share to 24.34 Percent of Grid by 2030

Taiwan’s semiconductor sector consumes 80 billion kWh of electricity in 2030, representing 24.34% of the island’s total power usage, up from 52 billion kWh or 17.71% this year, according to a media report citing state grid operator Taipower.

Power demand is projected to hit 110 billion kWh, or 30.38% of national electricity, by 2035. The consumption increase follows major capacity expansions across the industry, with TSMC currently operating 19 advanced fabrication and packaging plants in the region and 13 more facilities under construction.
