Freddie Mac reported the average interest rate on a 30-year fixed U.S. mortgage reached 6.66% for the week ending July 30, marking a 12-month high. The reading increased from 6.58% the prior week.
The uptick adds pressure to a housing market that has shown little sign of recovery, as higher borrowing costs continue to weigh on buyer activity.
