Google DeepMind Dismantles AlphaFold Team, Reassigns Majority of Authors In Strategy Overhaul
Google DeepMind has dismantled the team behind its Nobel Prize-winning AlphaFold AI system, overhauling the research program that pioneered computer-based protein structure prediction.
The majority of the original authors of the AlphaFold papers were reassigned to other projects over the past year, with roughly a quarter of the system’s full-time authors having left the project entirely.
