The conviction rested on a subpoena to Kik that requested the username “fus_ro_dah” instead of the actual account “fus__ro_dah,” omitting one underscore.
Law enforcement followed a digital paper trail linked to the misspelled handle that included an email address, Google records and a Bell Aliant subscriber match, all pointing to the wrong person. Personal devices yielded no evidence, and the conviction stood until investigators reviewed the initial database request.
