ONGC Begins Drilling First Deepwater Oil and Gas Exploration Well in Mahanadi Basin
ONGC has commenced drilling its first deepwater exploratory well in the Mahanadi Offshore Basin, India’s state-run oil and gas explorer said in a statement on social media. The project marks the company’s initial deepwater operation in the basin and is conducted under the Indian government’s Samudra Manthan Mission to expand offshore hydrocarbon production.
The Mahanadi basin is a focus for India’s strategy to tap deeper water resources and raise domestic energy output.
