EU Bans 14 Crypto Platforms in Largest Russia Sanctions Package in Four Years
The European Union has added 14 cryptocurrency trading platforms to its 21st sanctions package targeting Russia, barring transactions by users in the EU, the EEA and Switzerland starting Aug. 23. The sanctions list includes HTX, EXMO, Rapira and BitPapa.
The restrictions mark the largest sanctions batch in the crypto sector in four years and grant the EU new authority to ban cryptocurrency services from entire countries when platforms based there facilitate Russian sanctions evasion.
