Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits 2 Tankers, Halts Oil Loading at Kazakhstan CPC Terminal

businessenergy-marketsoilpoliticswarworldukraine 16 posts · 10 accounts

Ukrainian drone strikes hit two oil tankers at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal in Kazakhstan, prompting the operator to suspend crude loading at the facility. The attack occurred overnight when a drone struck the tanker NISSOS SIFNOS, operated by Chevron-controlled Tengizchevroil, causing a fire near the crude-loading manifolds that the crew extinguished. A second tanker, the MARATHI, was also struck approximately six nautical miles from the loading berth.

The CPC terminal processes more than 1 million barrels per day of mostly Kazakh oil and serves Western producers including ExxonMobil, Eni, TotalEnergies, and Shell. Pipeline operations in Kazakhstan remain unaffected, with no casualties or oil spills reported. The strike coincided with a separate overnight Ukrainian attack on Russia’s Taman export terminal in the Black Sea, which also suffered multiple hits, as Kyiv announced targeting four Russian tankers across the region.
