Ohio's DeWine Calls Trump Plan to Deport Haitians a Mistake
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said plans to deport Haitian migrants in the state who are on Temporary Protected Status would be a mistake and a big blow to local communities. DeWine said they have filled jobs, bought homes and become part of the workforce, and that sending them to Haiti would mean "sending people back to hell."
The remarks came as the Trump administration moves to end TPS protections for Haitians after the Supreme Court cleared the way for that step. CBS News reported that ICE was preparing operations in Ohio and elsewhere to arrest and deport Haitian migrants, with hundreds of thousands facing possible removal.
