Saudi Arabia Forms Coalition of 50 Nations to Secure Red Sea Shipping
Saudi Arabia is preparing to announce a multinational military coalition of about 50 countries to protect Red Sea shipping and secure the Bab el-Mandeb Strait against Houthi attacks.
The initiative, which Reuters reported could be unveiled as early as Thursday, aims to counter the Iran-backed group’s recent naval blockade and threats of transit tolls. Participation is open to roughly 50 nations, including Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey, though a senior U.S. official indicated Washington has not yet provided buy-in.
