SK hynix Posts KRW 100 Trillion Profit on Kioxia Stake Sale

Meritz Securities estimates SK hynix will report approximately KRW 100 trillion in 2Q26 pretax profit after selling its SPC1 stake in Kioxia as part of Bain Capital’s divestment. The transaction generated non-operating income exceeding KRW 41.6 trillion, including cumulative gains approaching KRW 40 trillion on the original 2018 investment.

Following the sale, SK hynix retains exposure to Kioxia through the SPC2 convertible bonds, which could convert into an approximately 14% stake. Meritz noted the cash flows are likely to fund higher dividends for the group, as SK Chairman Chey Tae-won’s divorce litigation has increased the need for payouts from the company.
