Russia Extends Diesel Export Ban for One Month to Support Domestic Fuel Supply
Russia is extending the ban on diesel exports for one month, a temporary measure scheduled to expire in mid-August if domestic supply conditions stabilize. The initial prohibition, which ran from July 8 through July 31, was implemented to prevent domestic price spikes and shortages following sustained Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries.
Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin said the domestic fuel market is challenging but under control following a government fuel headquarters meeting, with officials prioritizing petroleum product deliveries to agricultural producers, northern routes, and Siberian and Far Eastern regions. Analysts note the export policy will likely perpetuate the existing pricing disconnect between crude oil and diesel.
