US Treasury Sanctions Eight Tankers, 10 Entities Linked to Iran Hormuz Insurance Scheme
The US Treasury on Wednesday announced new sanctions targeting eight tankers and 10 entities linked to Iran’s crude oil trade, according to a notice posted on the department’s website.
OFAC placed the vessels and firms on the Specially Designated Nationals list under Executive Order 13902. The designation covers seven crude oil carriers and one chemical tanker registered in Hong Kong or the Marshall Islands, alongside two IRGC-backed marine insurers facing secondary sanctions for fees charged to shipping traffic at the Strait of Hormuz.
