Adnoc Continues LNG Exports Through Hormuz Despite Near Halt in Visible Traffic

businessenergy-marketsnatural-gaspoliticsmaritimeworldmiddle-east 333 posts · 83 accounts

Adnoc is continuing liquefied natural gas exports from its Persian Gulf plant even as visible traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has almost stopped. An empty LNG carrier owned by Adnoc’s shipping arm appeared in the Gulf on Wednesday after traversing the waterway with its location broadcasters turned off, ship-tracking data showed, marking a rare crossing since a Qatari LNG ship was attacked earlier this month.

Traffic was heavier at the Bab el-Mandeb strait, where 37 commodity ships passed on Tuesday, the most since July 19, according to preliminary Kpler data. Of those, 20 ships entered and 17 exited, and none were very large crude carriers or LNG tankers, while only a few ships were seen transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
