Nvidia Launches Open AI Security Alliance With Microsoft, IBM and 40 Other Companies
Nvidia, Microsoft and IBM launched the Open Secure AI Alliance with more than 40 founding members to build open-source tools for securing AI models and software agents. The coalition will share defensive research, red-teaming frameworks and a new open-harness product to standardize security testing across the industry.
The coalition formed in response to a security breach at startup Hugging Face, where closed AI models blocked forensic analysis by failing to distinguish attackers from defenders, forcing the company to deploy an open-weight model to contain the intrusion. The alliance argues that blanket restrictions on open frontier AI would weaken cyber defenses and deepen reliance on a narrow group of closed-system providers.
