ICC Member States Dismiss Prosecutor Karim Khan in 82-13 Vote on Misconduct Allegations
The International Criminal Court’s member states voted to dismiss chief prosecutor Karim Khan, with 82 of the court’s 125 countries supporting his removal, 13 voting against, and 15 abstaining, according to diplomatic sources cited by Reuters.
The dismissal follows allegations of sexual misconduct, which Khan denies. His legal team described the vote as a politically motivated move in response to his pursuit of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and embassies worldwide campaigned to secure favorable votes or abstentions.
