19 posts · 17 accounts

The New York Police Department detained a 43-year-old former U.S. Army soldier after he used incendiary devices and fireworks to ignite a blaze outside 26 Federal Plaza, the headquarters of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and a site housing an FBI office. The fire injured two people, both sustaining minor injuries, according to authorities.

The FBI is investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism. Agents said the suspect was carrying two axes, a hammer, a machete and three fixed-blade knives, along with six other incendiary devices. The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force has assumed lead on the inquiry.
