Nvidia Starts Q1 2027 Production of 800V AI Data Center Power Architecture, Delta Ramps Shipments in Q2
Nvidia has adjusted the production schedule for its 800V high-voltage direct current power architecture for AI data centers to the final quarter of 2027, according to supply-chain sources. Delta Electronics will begin low-volume production at the end of the first quarter of next year, with a gradual ramp-up in the second quarter aligned with customer deployment schedules.
The timeline shift stems from delays in validating first-generation product designs, specifically addressing a short-circuit risk identified during initial system testing, rather than a change to the technology roadmap. Industry sources maintain that the long-term transition remains intact, noting that the 800V architecture is essential for data center-to-rack power delivery as rack-level consumption targets 600kW to 1 MW in upcoming platform generations. The delay is characterized as a timing adjustment rather than a drop in demand, preserving a new growth cycle for Taiwanese power-supply and component manufacturers from 2027 onward.
