GAO Finds 7 of 10 Federal Cyber Rules Carry Duplicative Reporting Requirements
GAO found that seven of 10 federal cybersecurity regulations requiring written reports to agencies contain duplicated reporting requirements, according to a report released to Congress Wednesday.
The watchdog’s review of rules across 37 federal agencies identified 80 regulations out of 117 that overlap with other rules covering the same sectors. Lawmakers requested the analysis to identify redundancies, but the report concluded that ongoing efforts to de-conflict the overlapping rules have seen limited success.
