Strait of Hormuz Oil Flows Drop to 1.8 Million Barrels A Day, Cutting European LNG Imports 33%
Shipments of crude and liquefied natural gas through the Strait of Hormuz fell to about 1.8 million barrels a day yesterday, a weekly decline of 13.4 million barrels as fewer tankers entered the waterway to load cargoes and floating storage increased.
The traffic restriction has pushed European LNG imports down 33% compared with a year ago on a 30-day moving average. Traders previously recorded around 20 million barrels daily passing through the choke point before the fighting began, a shortfall that cannot be easily replaced by alternative supply routes or storage reserves.
