FDA Finds Taylor Farms Lettuce Parasite Test a False Positive
The Food and Drug Administration found a positive test for the cyclospora parasite on shredded iceberg lettuce from supplier Taylor Farms to be a false positive, reversing a key finding in a Taco Bell-linked outbreak investigation.
The reversal comes after laboratory experts rechecked the sample, but Taylor Farms has still recalled iceberg lettuce from central Mexico in an abundance of caution. The outbreak has sickened 1,645 people across five states.
