Nvidia Launches Vera Rubin AI Platform Delivering 10 Times Performance Per Watt

aiai-infrastructureai-compute-chips 24 posts · 17 accounts

Nvidia launched the Vera Rubin NVL72, a rack-scale AI supercomputer combining seven codesigned chips that delivers 10x more tokens per megawatt than its Blackwell architecture. The platform uses co-packaged photonics switches to cut networking power by 5x and supports chiller-free dry cooling with a 45C liquid inlet temperature.

The company also confirmed it began shipping Vera CPUs to customers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX, in June. Benchmarks show the processors deliver 2x higher single-threaded performance, opening a direct competition with Intel and Advanced Micro Devices for cloud deployments. Major software frameworks have integrated the platform, while Microsoft, CoreWeave, and Google Cloud are deploying the hardware to power large-scale generative AI and agentic workloads.
