Dated Brent Hits $105.6, Nearly $5 Above Futures Amid Hormuz and Red Sea Disruptions

businessenergy-marketsoilpoliticswar 169 posts · 68 accounts

Dated Brent, a benchmark for physical crude cargoes, rose to $105.6 a barrel, its highest in two months, while Brent futures traded above $100, leaving physical barrels nearly $5 above futures. The move unfolded as Iran-backed Houthi militants attacked two Saudi tankers in the Red Sea, opening a new front alongside disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.

Rapidan Energy Group raised its fourth-quarter Brent forecast to nearly $100 a barrel from $85, citing prolonged disruptions to trade through Hormuz after the breakdown of the US-Iran ceasefire. The consultant said Brent could climb into the mid-$100 range in coming months if optimism over a peace agreement fades and the market starts pricing in tighter supply fundamentals.
