AMD Launches Helios Rack-AI System, Raises 2030 AI Accelerator Market Forecast to $1.4 Trillion
AMD launched the Helios rack-scale AI server system powered by its MI450 accelerator, with CEO Lisa Su confirming the platform is already in full production and scheduled to begin shipments in the third quarter. The announcement coincided with a revised long-term outlook, raising the company’s forecast for the global AI accelerator market to $1.4 trillion by 2030.
Su noted that inference workloads will surpass training for the first time this year, consuming approximately 60% of global AI compute capacity as monthly token usage surpasses 35 quadrillion. OpenAI recently acquired the Helios GPU racks three months ago and plans to partner with the chipmaker on future MI500 series processors, signaling deepening deployment at scale within major artificial intelligence labs.
