Brent Crude Hits $100 for First Time Since May After Red Sea Tanker Attacks

Brent crude hit $100 a barrel on Thursday for the first time since May after Iran-backed Houthi militants said they had attacked two Saudi tankers in the Red Sea, extending a move that had already pushed the benchmark above $98 earlier in the day.

At least one Saudi oil tanker was attacked in the Red Sea, the Washington Post reported. The latest incident widened risks to energy supplies already disrupted by a near-halt in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and Brent was about $30 a barrel above its early-July low.
