Trump Grants Ukraine License to Manufacture Patriot Missiles as Kyiv Awaits New PAC-3 Shipment
President Donald Trump granted Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot PAC-3 interceptor missiles, establishing a domestic production mechanism to bypass existing U.S. delivery backlogs. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the agreement was discussed at the NATO summit in Ankara and noted Kyiv wants to learn from Mitsubishi's manufacturing process for the interceptors.
The production license follows a request first made in December 2023, according to former Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Defense analysts and officials warn that domestic manufacturing will require detailed negotiations between American and Ukrainian companies and could take months or years to reach full capacity, even as Moscow continues intensifying aerial attacks on civilian infrastructure.
