Jordan Intercepts Eight Iranian Missiles; IRGC Says It Fired 10 at Azraq Base
Jordan’s military said it intercepted eight Iranian missiles with no casualties after sirens sounded and missiles launched from Iran were detected in Jordanian airspace. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards later said they had fired 10 ballistic missiles at Jordan’s Al-Azraq military air base, also identified in a separate Guards statement as Muwaffaq Salti Air Base.
The Revolutionary Guards said the strike targeted U.S. military infrastructure, including a command and control center, and called it the second phase of its response to U.S. attacks. It warned that other U.S. bases in the region would also be targeted if U.S. attacks were repeated. The U.S. Embassy in Jordan issued an immediate shelter-in-place order, citing reports of missiles, drones or rockets in Jordanian airspace.
