Nvidia Launches Financing Program for AI Cloud Providers to Swap Compute Power for Revenue Shares
Nvidia officially launched a financing partnership program that allows AI cloud providers to swap high-performance computing power for a percentage of future product and cloud revenues. First introduced in a July 1 blog post from Nvidia CFO Colette, the program expands the chipmaker’s financing options for special purpose vehicles, or SPVs, that build dedicated GPU datacenters. Alongside previous arrangements where infrastructure providers received Nvidia GPUs in exchange for equity or cloud credits, the new model offers a revenue-sharing structure tied to the subsidized hardware.
The initiative targets specialized AI cloud operators, often referred to as neoclouds, rather than hyperscale platforms like Amazon or Google. By taking a share of the cloud revenue generated by the subsidized capacity, Nvidia converts what is typically a one-time hardware sale into a recurring income stream. According to analysis of the financing circular, AI cloud infrastructure fund Firmus is among the first SPVs to join the program, which complements Nvidia’s $40 billion in AI investments earlier this year, including a $30 billion stake in OpenAI.
