PepsiCo Stock Falls 5% on Earnings Miss as 15% Snack Price Cuts Curb North American Revenue
PepsiCo reported a second-quarter operating profit of $4.02 billion on revenue of $24.18 billion, missing operating profit and North American food revenue estimates after cutting snack prices by up to 15%. The price reductions flattened volumes, causing a 2% revenue decline in the region, though total sales beat expectations.
The company warned of rising inflationary pressures on US consumers and reaffirmed its full-year organic revenue growth guidance of 2% to 4%. Shares fell 5% in trading as the softer North American performance prompted management to project a more gradual improvement in the business for the remainder of the year.
