Joseph Chalom Says Ethereum Settles Over 50% of Stablecoin and Tokenization Volume
Joseph Chalom said Ethereum remains the dominant layer for capital markets, claiming the network settles more than half of all stablecoin activity and handles over 55% of tokenization volume. The Ethereum Institutional and EthLabs founder used the comments to push back against shifting market narratives, comparing Ethereum’s entrenched position to how Uber prioritized market share over profitability before accruing value. He noted that Ethereum currently hosts over 1 million validators and more than 1 million code contributors, figures he said far outpace rivals like Solana, which has fewer than 800 validators and relies on a single software client for 92% of its network.
Chalom identified institutional inertia rather than competitor performance as the primary barrier to Ethereum’s broader adoption by traditional finance. He argued that as transaction volumes expand with the projected growth of stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets—which currently sit at about $31 billion—the network will eventually trigger Ethereum’s deflationary token burn mechanism. This dynamic, he said, will compound over time as the ecosystem evolves into a global settlement layer for digital assets.
