Unitree Robotics Wins Approval for $613 Million IPO on Shanghai STAR Market

businesstechroboticsworldchina 6 posts · 3 accounts

Unitree Robotics has won regulatory approval from China's securities watchdog to raise approximately CNY 4.2 billion ($613 million) in a startup market listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The China Securities Regulatory Commission cleared the application on July 2, moving the humanoid robot manufacturer closer to a public debut after its March filing. For the first half of the year, Unitree expects net profit excluding one-off items to reach CNY 236 million to CNY 283 million ($34 million to $41 million), the company said.

The approval comes as Unitree navigates a strategic pivot toward artificial intelligence that is compressing near-term profitability. While the company reported a 10-fold revenue increase over two years to RMB 1.7 billion and remains the global leader in humanoid robot shipments with 5,500 units, adjusted net profit fell 53% in the first quarter as research and development expenditures surged. Analysts note the hardware currently generates minimal commercial revenue, with only 9% coming from industrial applications, leaving the vast majority of sales directed at AI research labs and startups.
