Anthropic Restores Claude Fable 5 Globally, Routes Flagged Requests to Opus 4.8
The U.S. Commerce Department's move to lift export controls enabled Anthropic, the AI startup behind Claude, to restore Claude Fable 5 worldwide less than three weeks after the model was suspended. Anthropic later said requests caught by tighter cybersecurity safeguards now trigger a visible fallback to Opus 4.8, another Claude model, and users are told when that happens.
A small fraction of routine coding and debugging prompts may still be flagged while the new classifier is refined. Paid Claude plans can use Fable 5 within up to 50% of weekly limits through July 7 before shifting to usage credits, while Mythos 5 has only been restored to a set of approved U.S. organizations.

@synthwaveddGood news - Anthropic have been given the go-ahead for a full, global relaunch of Fable 5 once the order is formally lifted! I believe they'll wait until they're back in office (so tomorrow at the earliest) before kicking it off however
