Anthropic Restores Claude Fable 5 After 19-Day Shutdown, Caps Paid Access at 50% Through July 7
Claude Fable 5, Anthropic's flagship AI model, returned globally on July 1 across the company's platform and partner tools. Paid plans with included usage can access Fable 5 through July 7 for up to 50% of each week's limit, with additional use available via usage credits.
The relaunch follows a 19-day shutdown triggered by US export controls. Following conversations with the US government, Anthropic said it updated cybersecurity safeguards and that the vast majority of coding work is unaffected, though some harmless requests will be flagged more often than before and routed to Opus 4.8, another Claude model, while the new classifiers are refined over the coming weeks.
GitHub said Fable 5 was again generally available in Copilot, and Cursor said the model was back on its platform. Anthropic's ClaudeDevs account later said 5-hour and weekly rate limits had been reset. The mid-June restrictions followed a reported jailbreak that let the model identify software vulnerabilities and write exploit code.

@synthwaveddGood news - Anthropic have been given the go-ahead for a full, global relaunch of Fable 5 once the order is formally lifted! I believe they'll wait until they're back in office (so tomorrow at the earliest) before kicking it off however
