Digital Realty Inc. plans to acquire a majority stake in three data centers in Northern Virginia, Reuters reported. The real estate investment trust will pay $3.5 billion to Blackstone-managed funds as part of the transaction, which brings the total value of the acquisition to $7.8 billion. The centers are located at new facilities in one of the largest concentrations of cloud infrastructure in the United States.

Digital Realty will acquire the facilities with existing leases intact, securing immediate cash flows, though the report did not identify the tenants. Northern Virginia has become a critical hub for hyperscale data centers as demand from artificial intelligence workloads drives expansion. Blackstone, a major global real estate investor, manages the funds holding the majority stake in the properties.
