Nvidia and Eli Lilly Plan $1 Billion AI Drug Discovery Lab

aiai-sector-impactsciencepharma 2 posts · 2 accounts

Nvidia Corp and Eli Lilly and Co are partnering on a roughly $1 billion artificial intelligence drug discovery lab in San Francisco. The facility will combine Nvidia's computing infrastructure with Eli Lilly's proprietary pharmaceutical data to accelerate compound testing and clinical failure analysis.

Eli Lilly CEO Dave Ricks highlighted the partnership's data advantage, noting that while many tech-bio competitors train their models on publicly available datasets of roughly 4,000 approved drugs, Eli Lilly has access to data from 3 million drugs that failed during development. This dataset is intended to help AI systems better predict clinical trial failures and refine drug design before human testing.
