Anthropic Resets Claude Fable 5 Rate Limits, Keeps Opus 4.8 Fallbacks for Small Share of Coding Tasks
Paid users got fresh five-hour and weekly quotas for Claude Fable 5 after Anthropic restored the AI model, while new cybersecurity filters that the company says should affect only a small fraction of routine coding and debugging prompts continue to reroute flagged requests to Opus 4.8, its older model. Anthropic had previously said Fable 5 would count against up to 50% of weekly included usage through July 7, after which it moves to usage credits.
The fallback behavior has become the main caveat in Fable 5’s return from a U.S. export-control halt. Some users have reported heavier rerouting in practice, but Arena, a benchmarking platform, said early scores looked mostly consistent before and after redeployment, suggesting the core model has not been broadly weakened outside those safeguard-triggered handoffs.

@synthwaveddGood news - Anthropic have been given the go-ahead for a full, global relaunch of Fable 5 once the order is formally lifted! I believe they'll wait until they're back in office (so tomorrow at the earliest) before kicking it off however
