Quantum Systems, a Munich-based defense drone startup, raised $1.2 billion in a funding round that more than doubled its valuation to approximately $8 billion. The capital raise, co-led by Blackstone, Noteus Partners, Airbus and Advent, highlights sustained investor appetite for military technology amid rising global defense budgets.
The funding positions the company to expand beyond surveillance drones supplied to Ukraine, according to investor Sebastian Johnson. Co-CEO Sven Kruck said the startup is also actively looking for M&A targets following the round, with reports indicating it is weighing a merger with Stark Defence, a maker of kamikaze drones. The two firms were co-founded by Florian Seibel, who noted the acquisition could consolidate operations. Quantum Systems is currently profitable and targeting €700 million in revenue this year.
