Canada Inflation Hits 29-Month High of 3.2% in May
Canada’s annual inflation rate rose to 3.2% in May, a 29-month high, while the consumer price index climbed 1.0% from April. The monthly increase topped the 0.8% estimate and accelerated from 0.4% the previous month.
Spiking gasoline prices drove the acceleration, even as the breadth of price pressures narrowed and core measures were little changed. The Canadian dollar later fell to its weakest level against the US dollar in more than 14 months.
