Dominion Voting Systems Drops $1.5 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against Mike Lindell
Dominion Voting Systems has dropped its $1.5 billion defamation lawsuit against MyPillow founder Mike Lindell, resolving one of the most consequential legal cases regarding false claims about the 2020 presidential election. The action leaves Lindell without the financial judgment Dominion sought after he refused to stop distributing misinformation that damaged the voting-machine company's reputation.
Dominion reached a $787.5 million settlement with Fox News in 2023 to resolve similar defamation claims. Lindell's refusal to settle in September 2022 escalated the dispute, prompting Dominion to file the lawsuit seeking $1.5 billion in damages. The voting systems company was sold to Liberty Vote in October 2025, a firm controlled by Scott Leiendecker, a former Republican elections director.
