South Korea's June 1-20 Exports Jump 60.4%, Trade Surplus Reaches $17.5 Billion
South Korea ran a provisional $17.5 billion trade surplus in June 1-20, with exports rising 60.4% from a year earlier and imports increasing 23.2%, according to preliminary customs data.
A continued boom in semiconductors helped drive the gain. Earlier June 1-20 preliminary figures showed dynamic random-access memory, or DRAM, exports including modules up 342% from a year earlier, flash memory up 336%, solid-state drives up 405% and multi-chip packages including high-bandwidth memory up 209%.
