North Carolina Removes Confederate Flag Display From Pavilion at Great American State Fair
North Carolina has removed a video displaying the Confederate flag from its pavilion at the Great American State Fair in Washington after it sparked backlash and condemnation from the state's governor. The image appeared on Friday in a video playing inside the pavilion, which is part of the America 250 celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
Governor Josh Stein's spokesperson condemned the display, stating it "does not reflect the North Carolina that we love" and labeled the symbol divisive. According to Spectrum News, a spokesperson for the pavilion confirmed the video was taken down immediately upon discovery on Friday and that organizers are investigating how the unapproved image was included.
